SPLIT, Croatia – The summer cinema season in Dalmatia is set to captivate audiences once again, with the iconic Ljetno kino Bačvice (Summer Cinema Bačvice) and numerous other locations across the region ready to welcome film enthusiasts. Alen Munitić, director of Kino Mediteran and the Split Mediterranean Film Festival, shared insights into this year's program in an exclusive interview. "This summer, we are bringing a diverse selection of films to our audiences," stated Munitić. "Beyond the popular 'Jaws,' we will feature a new film starring Brad Pitt, as well as a delightful Italian romantic comedy that we believe will be a big hit across all generations. We also continue our tradition of 'Classics Tuesdays,' showcasing beloved films like 'E.T.' and 'Lost in Translation'." Kino Mediteran's expansive reach includes over 15 locations throughout Dalmatia, ensuring that residents and tourists alike can enjoy the magic of open-air cinema. "Whether you're in Bol, Supetar, Hvar, Jelsa, Lastovo, Komiža, or Mljet, you'll find a cinema nearby," Munitić confirmed. He highlighted the unique ambiance of these venues, where viewers can enjoy movies under the stars, often accompanied by the sound of the sea, creating a memorable experience that extends beyond just watching a film. The popularity of these events remains strong, with the Split Mediterranean Film Festival alone attracting 10,000 to 15,000 attendees annually over 18 years. Ljetno kino Bačvice draws an impressive 15,000 to 16,000 visitors yearly, and Kino Mediteran's entire network across Dalmatia welcomes approximately 60,000 people. Munitić emphasized that the venues also offer food and drink options, encouraging a complete social outing. The summer cinema season will run until mid-September, inviting everyone to partake in this cherished cultural tradition.
