Viktor Orbán Reveals How Hungary's Family Policies Led to Doubled Marriages and Halved Abortions
BUDAPEST, Hungary – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently outlined his government's comprehensive family policy initiatives, asserting that these measures are crucial for the preservation of Western civilization. Speaking on the importance of traditional families as transmitters of values, Orbán highlighted Hungary's significant investment in family support. According to the Prime Minister, Hungary allocated over 6% of its GDP to family policies last year. These initiatives include various subsidies available to families from the point of conception, automatic tax reductions, and state assumption of student loans for parents after their third child. A key policy highlighted by Orbán is the lifelong personal income tax exemption for women who have given birth to four or more children, with ongoing efforts to extend this zero-tax policy to mothers with three children. Orbán presented statistics indicating the success of these policies, stating that over the past decade, the number of marriages in Hungary has doubled, while the number of abortions has been halved. He concluded his remarks with a lighthearted suggestion for unmarried individuals to consider finding a Hungarian spouse.
