MINSK – Belarusbank has recently announced a reduction in interest rates for its housing loan programs, including "Ipoteka Express." While the move aims to make housing more accessible, a significant change in financing terms has emerged, posing new challenges for prospective homeowners. Previously, the bank would finance up to 90% of a property's value. However, under the updated policy, this figure has been reduced to 80%. This adjustment means borrowers are now required to cover a larger portion of the property cost themselves. One individual, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared her experience: "We had our loan application approved under the old terms, and we had already paid a 10% deposit. Now, with the bank only financing 80%, we suddenly need to find an additional 10% of the property's value. If we can't secure these funds, our deal falls through, and we lose our initial deposit." This situation highlights the unexpected financial burden placed on those who had planned their finances based on previous conditions but have not yet finalized their loan agreements. The bank has not yet issued a public statement clarifying the reasons behind the simultaneous reduction in financing percentage.
