Record-Breaking 7800 Attend Aktobe's 'Night at the Museum'
Aktobe's "Night at the Museum" Draws Record Crowd of 7800 Aktobe, Kazakhstan – The Aktobe Regional Historical and Local History Museum hosted its annual "Night at the Museum" event on May 18, 2025, attracting a record-breaking 7800 attendees. This year's event was a resounding success, showcasing Aktobe's rich cultural heritage through interactive exhibits and engaging activities. Guests were greeted by the Aktobe city mayor's brass band, adding a festive atmosphere to the evening. The program included traditional craft workshops, where visitors could learn pottery, candle making, weaving, and leatherwork. A captivating exhibit featured military artifacts and weaponry from the region's history, alongside displays of millet varieties and artwork from local students. Adding a modern twist, the museum hosted a "Squid Game" themed competition and a "Great Gatsby" costume contest, providing entertainment for all ages. "I loved the idea of dressing up in the style of "Gatsby," it gave us a special privilege," said Gulzhanat Taganova, a participant. "I called my friend to be my partner; she has a red suit, and I'm wearing a black dress with accessories. I watched the movie "The Great Gatsby," not only the one with Leonardo DiCaprio but also the old one from 1949. But I liked the film with DiCaprio better." The museum also highlighted the work of local artisans, such as Nuralan Zhakybayev, a leather craftsman with over 30 years of experience. "For me, it's important to preserve the traditional style. I use natural materials and dyes: leather, wood, henna, and so on. I teach children this craft so they can also process leather and make quality products," said Zhakybayev. The event's success is a testament to the museum's commitment to engaging the community and celebrating local culture. The museum anticipates even greater attendance in next year's event.
