Malaga Charity Campaign Seeks to Alleviate Poverty Through Supermarket Donations
Malaga, Spain – A local charity, Bancosol, is launching its spring campaign to combat poverty and food insecurity. The campaign, running May 23rd and 24th, allows shoppers to add a minimum of one euro to their grocery bills at participating supermarkets (El Corte Ingles, Maskom, Carrefour, and Mercadona). This initiative aims to support 29,240 individuals, including 8,694 children, facing poverty and vulnerability in the Malaga province. Bancosol President Diego Vázquez highlighted the crucial role of public donations, stating, "Public administrations are not helping us, and all the food we are distributing is thanks to donations from the people of Malaga in campaigns like this." The campaign leverages the convenience of supermarkets to make donating accessible and encourages community participation in addressing a pressing social need.
