Málaga, Spain - A recent inspection of streets in the Cruz de Humilladero area has ignited a heated debate between Limasam councilwoman Teresa Porras and members of the opposition. The visit, also attended by a journalist from SUR, aimed to assess the cleanliness of the city's thoroughfares following public complaints. During the inspection, Councilwoman Porras maintained that the streets were clean. However, opposition representatives challenged this assertion, pointing to visible signs of neglect, including discarded chewing gum on sidewalks and open bottles. One opposition member stated, "This street, when I arrived, was full of open bottles and what was left outside the container." Another added, "The containers are completely dirty. You don't see the reality." The debate continued inside a vehicle, where opposition members reiterated their concerns. They highlighted that residents in areas like Paseo de los Tilos have complained about streets not being washed. "What you found is a toilet, a bag of trash... But people have told you it's not being washed," one opposition member insisted, directly contradicting the councilwoman's claims of cleanliness. The discussion underscores ongoing tensions regarding urban maintenance in Málaga.
