Dnipro Improves Accessibility for People with Disabilities Ukraine's city of Dnipro is making strides in improving accessibility for people with disabilities. A recent initiative, supported by the office of First Lady Olena Zelenska, is transforming city streets to be more inclusive. The project, "Barrier-Free Routes," is highlighted in a recent video by Dnipro Operativnij media. The video features Demyan Dudlya, a National Guard veteran who sustained injuries during the war and is now an ambassador for the project. "The idea of making the city more inclusive is very important," Dudlya states in the video, emphasizing the growing need for accessibility given the increase in people with disabilities due to the war. The video shows newly renovated streets, including Voskresenska and Kalynova, which now meet state building codes for accessibility. An architect from the Dnipro City Council comments on the project, explaining that ramps have been built to meet specific standards. Dnipro is one of fifteen Ukrainian cities participating in this pilot program. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and creating a more welcoming environment for all citizens, regardless of their physical abilities.
