The study identified polyethylene, a common plastic used in everyday items like plastic bags and water bottles, as the prevalent type of plastic found. While Dr. Sethi emphasized that the study demonstrates a correlation and does not conclusively prove that microplastics directly cause poor health outcomes, he noted that these initial findings are concerning. In light of this research, Dr. Sethi shared his personal decision to minimize his use of plastic water bottles, opting instead for a stainless steel alternative. The findings underscore the growing scientific interest in the potential health impacts of microplastic exposure.
