Urgent Food Recalls: Listeria, Undeclared Allergens, and Dangerous Coolers
Urgent Food Recalls Issued Across US: Listeria, Undeclared Allergens, and Dangerous Cooler Design Consumers across the United States are urged to check their pantries and coolers following three significant food and product recalls announced today, May 12th, 2025. The recalls involve ready-to-eat (RTE) meals, gluten-free bakery items, and popular rolling coolers. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that Fresh & Ready Foods, a supplier of RTE sandwiches, pasta, and snack boxes sold in vending machines and break rooms across Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington, initiated a recall due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. "The presence of Listeria can cause serious illness, even death, in vulnerable individuals," stated an FDA spokesperson. The recall affects products distributed between April 18th and 28th, 2025, with use-by dates ranging from April 22nd to May 19th. Consumers are advised to immediately discard any affected products. Separately, New Grains Gluten Free Bakery issued a recall of various breads, bagels, cookies, and mixes sold in Utah due to the undeclared presence of egg, soy, and milk. This poses a serious risk to individuals with allergies. "We deeply regret this oversight and are working diligently to prevent similar incidents in the future," said a representative from New Grains. In a third recall, Igloo Products expanded its recall of Latitude and Flip-&-Tow rolling coolers to include an additional 130,000 units, bringing the total to over 1.2 million. The recall is due to a dangerous handle design that has resulted in 78 new injuries, including 26 fingertip amputations or fractures. "Consumer safety is our top priority," said Igloo in a statement. The company urges consumers to check the date stamp on the bottom of their coolers and to return any affected units for a refund or replacement. Consumers are encouraged to check the FDA website and the respective company websites for complete lists of recalled products and lot numbers.
