Alexandre Olmos, médico internista, explica cómo los hábitos influyen en este proceso
New research suggests that premature graying may be linked to a substance in the blood called homocysteine, rather than just age or stress. Dr. Alexandre Olmos explains that when homocysteine levels are out of control, it can accelerate aging processes throughout the body, including the hair. "It's not just age or stress," states Dr. Olmos. "There is a substance in your blood called homocysteine that, if it gets out of control, can be accelerating the aging of your hair and your entire body." He notes that diet plays a crucial role, with both excessive animal protein and a lack of animal protein (due to potential Vitamin B12 deficiency) potentially increasing homocysteine levels. To combat this, Dr. Olmos recommends finding a balance in protein consumption, maintaining adequate Vitamin B12 levels, and incorporating plenty of antioxidants into one's diet. He also highlights red light therapy as a revolutionary approach that indirectly stimulates melanin, potentially slowing down the graying process from within.
