Dormir est important pour le fonctionnement de notre corps. Pourtant, la durée de notre sommeil a chuté ces dernières années.
Paris, France - Dr. Mohamed Jimmy, a renowned physician, recently highlighted the critical importance of sleep for overall health, debunking the misconception that it is a mere waste of time. In a recent video, Dr. Jimmy utilized anatomical models to illustrate three fundamental processes that occur during sleep, underscoring its role as a vital component of well-being. According to Dr. Jimmy, around 1 AM, the superficial layer of the skin, the epidermis, undergoes significant repair. "Sleeping allows for healing," he explained, emphasizing the body's natural regenerative capabilities during rest. Furthermore, sleep plays a crucial role in appetite regulation. During the night, the body produces leptin, a hormone that suppresses appetite, while simultaneously blocking ghrelin, the hormone that stimulates hunger. This hormonal balance helps in weight management. "Sleeping helps you lose weight," Dr. Jimmy stated. Finally, Dr. Jimmy detailed how the brain detoxifies itself during sleep. He described the brain as functioning like a sponge, actively cleansing itself of toxins accumulated throughout the day. "Sleep repairs the brain," he affirmed. Dr. Jimmy warned against sleep deprivation, linking it to various severe health conditions, including obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers. He urged individuals to prioritize sleep, viewing it as essential medicine for both adults and children. "If the human species spends one-third of its time sleeping, it's not for nothing," he concluded, reinforcing the profound and often underestimated benefits of adequate rest.
