
Transgender Women in Uganda Share Their Stories of Resilience and Hope
Kampala, Uganda – May 22, 2025 – In a candid interview, two transgender women shared their experiences navigating life in Uganda. One woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, described the daily challenges of facing societal prejudice: "People stare, they whisper, and sometimes they're openly hostile." However, she also expressed hope for a more inclusive future, emphasizing the growing support from some segments of society. Her friend, who identified herself only as "Jaja," added, "We just want to be accepted for who we are. We're not hurting anyone." Their stories highlight the ongoing struggle for transgender rights in Uganda, but also show the strength and resilience of these individuals in the face of adversity. Their vulnerability and honesty make their story compelling and worthy of wider attention.
