"The worst car out there": Mechanics share the cars they wouldn't recommend to …
"We have them in here almost seems like every day, with the engines going bad, leaking."
An informal poll conducted at EichBrothers Auto Repair Service Center in Evansville, Indiana, has shed light on mechanics' least recommended vehicles. When asked, "What's a car you wouldn't recommend to your worst enemy?", several technicians offered candid responses. Garrett and Scott both singled out the Chevrolet Equinox, with Scott noting, "We have them in here almost every day with the engines going bad, leaking." Patrick cited the historical Ford Pinto, explaining, "Back in the 70s they had bad structural work on the rear end of them, so they would get rear-ended, getting collisions and literally catch fire on the road." He added that Ford reportedly settled out of court with families rather than issuing a recall. AJ warned against Kia or Hyundai models "without the extended warranty," suggesting owners might otherwise face buying a new transmission or engine. Holden, though admitting he'd never driven or worked on one, labeled the Yugo as "terrible, unreliable, like the worst car out there" based on widespread stories. Finally, Ty advised against newer Ford models, stating, "They have 3-cylinder engines and they have a wet belt system that will degrade over time, blocking oil passages causing engine failure." These insights offer a glimpse into the perceived reliability and common issues associated with various car models from a mechanic's perspective.
