Mexico's Surgical Days Prioritize Cataract Surgeries: A Government Initiative Mexico City – Martí Batres, head of Mexico City's government, recently announced the results of nationwide surgical days, focusing on addressing a backlog of surgeries. The initiative prioritized cataract operations, with a significant number of procedures performed across 17 states. In Baja California alone, 485 cataract surgeries were completed. "In Baja California, we addressed the backlog of cataract surgeries," Batres stated during a press conference. The initiative also included articular surgery and urology procedures. The national articular surgery campaign resulted in 210 procedures across 8 states. In Oaxaca, 20 urology procedures were performed at the Benito Juarez Hospital. The success of these surgical days highlights the government's commitment to improving access to healthcare for all Mexicans. The participation of numerous doctors, including Dr. Marcela Pelayo, Dr. César Hurce, Dr. Rosa María Ortiz, and Dr. Patricio Guerra, was instrumental in the initiative's success.
