The record label alleges that Nodal and his parents falsified contracts to claim ownership of three of his most successful albums: "Me Dejé Llevar" (2017), "Ahora" (2019), and "AYAYAY!" (2020). On May 19th, 2025, Nodal appeared before the Sixth District Court in Civil Matters in Mexico City. He answered over 130 questions related to the case. While he appeared calm, neither his parents nor his wife, Ángela Aguilar, accompanied him. "We are in the stage of presenting evidence. There are still other procedures to come," Nodal's lawyer stated. Universal Music's lawyer, Arturo Pérez, emphasized that this is just the beginning of a prolonged legal battle. The outcome could determine whether Nodal retains the rights to perform his iconic songs. The case highlights the complexities of music contracts and the potential for disputes between artists and record labels. The court proceedings will be closely watched by the music industry and fans alike.
