Mexico City's New App Feature: Police Escorts at Your Fingertips
Mexico City Launches App Feature for Police Escorts Mexico City is enhancing citizen safety with a new feature in its "Mi Policía" app. The Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) has introduced "Acompañamiento a cuentahabiente" and "Acompañamiento a compra segura," allowing residents to request police escorts for high-value transactions. This is a direct response to concerns about robberies during banking and car purchases. "This initiative is about proactive crime prevention," explains an SSC spokesperson. "We want citizens to feel safe and secure, and this feature provides an extra layer of protection." The app requires users to provide basic information, including their location and a description of themselves. Once the request is submitted, two officers will accompany the user to their destination. Beyond the escort service, "Mi Policía" also offers other features such as locating nearby police stations and an emergency button. The app is available for free download on iOS and Android devices. This initiative exemplifies the SSC’s commitment to community engagement and crime prevention. By offering this service, the SSC hopes to build trust and foster a safer environment for all residents of Mexico City.
