Greece Revolutionizes Healthcare: Home Delivery of High-Cost Medications Starts June 16th
Greece Launches Nationwide Program to Deliver High-Cost Medications to Homes Greece is implementing a significant healthcare initiative to improve the accessibility of high-cost medications. Starting June 16th, the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY) will begin delivering these medications directly to patients' homes. This program also introduces online appointment booking for EOPYY pharmacies. The initiative aims to modernize the healthcare system and reduce the burden on patients, particularly those requiring costly treatments. "We are changing the image of EOPYY pharmacies with home deliveries of high-cost medications and electronic appointments," stated Mr. Themistokleous, a key figure involved in the program, in a recent interview. A certified company will handle the home deliveries, ensuring the medications are transported safely and correctly. This program is expected to benefit approximately 120,000 patients across Greece, including those on islands. The online appointment system will allow patients to schedule visits efficiently, reducing wait times and improving overall service. This new program represents a significant step forward in making healthcare more accessible and convenient for Greek citizens, especially those with chronic conditions requiring expensive medications.
