117 People Search for Girl Swept Away by Flood in Dominican Republic
A five-year-old girl was swept away by a flooded canal in the Primaveral sector of Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte, following heavy rains. The Civil Defense is leading a large-scale search and rescue operation. "Around 117 people are working in the search," said Delfín Antonio Rodríguez, the Operations Manager of Civil Defense, in an interview with El Nuevo Diario. He confirmed that despite the weather, the search will continue. The search covers a challenging 15-16 kilometer area, encompassing various tributaries that eventually empty into the Guajuma River. The large number of people involved and the use of specialized equipment highlight the dedication to finding the missing child.
