In a candid online discussion, a couple shared insights into their unique family structure, addressing how the stepfather integrates into the lives of the woman's sons. The woman, identified as Lilla, and her partner, who prefers to be called Máté (despite his middle name being András), explained that their approach prioritizes clear roles and a strong foundation for the children. Máté emphasized that while the boys' biological father maintains a relationship, he provides a distinct 'male energy' crucial for their development. "The father is the father, the stepfather is the stepfather," Máté stated, highlighting that there is no substitution but rather complementary roles. He recounted his own upbringing by a military and businessman father, which instilled in him values of perseverance and problem-solving, qualities he aims to pass on. The couple revealed that establishing these boundaries and expectations early on, even through challenges, was vital. "We had our battles, and there were times I had to raise my voice or bang on the table to bring order to their minds and the apartment," Máté admitted. However, he proudly noted that he has never received a disrespectful word from the boys, nor have they ever told him he wasn't their father. Lilla added that Máté's consistent presence and male energy have been essential for the family's daily functioning over the past decade, allowing her to be a softer, more loving mother.
