Experts Warn Against Excessive Screen Time for Children, Propose Strict Limits. A recent video featuring nurse Jorge Ángel has highlighted expert recommendations regarding children's screen time, sparking discussion among parents. The video, which opens with a relatable scenario of a child's resistance to giving up a tablet, quickly transitions into a serious health warning. According to the guidelines presented by Ángel, children aged 0 to 6 years should have no screen time at all. For those between 7 and 12 years, daily screen exposure, including school-related activities, should not exceed one hour. Teenagers aged 13 to 16 years are advised to limit their screen use to less than two hours per day. Nurse Ángel underscored the importance of adhering to these limits, stating, "The less, the better, because this brings a lot of problems." He detailed a range of potential negative impacts, including addiction, termed "pantallismo," vision problems, learning difficulties, impaired imagination development, behavioral issues, sleep disorders, challenges in social relationships, and increased sedentary behavior. Ángel concluded by urging parents to truthfully assess and manage their children's screen consumption, emphasizing the growing prevalence of these issues.
