Crimean Bridge Attack: SBU Claims Success, Bridge Severely Damaged
Crimean Bridge Damaged in Latest Attack: Ukraine's SBU Claims Responsibility The Crimean bridge, a key logistical artery for Russia's military operations in Ukraine, suffered significant damage early Tuesday morning in what Ukrainian authorities claim was a successful operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The attack, which involved an underwater explosive device, comes after two previous incidents targeting the bridge in 2022 and 2023. "The SBU conducted a new unique special operation and, in fact, destroyed the Crimean bridge," stated Marta Oliyarnyk, a reporter for Espreso.tv, in a video released shortly after the incident. The video shows footage of a large explosion near one of the bridge's supports. The explosion, which occurred at approximately 4:44 AM local time, caused severe damage to the underwater supports of the bridge, according to Oliyarnyk. She added that the operation was carried out without any civilian casualties. Movement across the bridge has been completely halted. The attack represents a significant blow to Russia's military logistics in Crimea and underscores the ongoing conflict in the region. The incident is likely to further escalate tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
