Budapest, Hungary – Celebrated Hungarian film director István Szabó, 87, recently shared a profound observation regarding the universality of human emotions. Speaking at an event, Szabó articulated his conviction that "human emotions are identical everywhere in the world." He elaborated on this perspective, drawing from his extensive career and experiences presenting his films in various countries. Szabó recounted instances where, regardless of the nation or culture, audiences exhibited remarkably similar emotional responses. "I have experienced, accompanying a film, that in different countries, during the screenings, the emotions are identical everywhere," Szabó stated. He noted that moments of shared feeling, such as the collective quietness in a cinema or even the sound of chairs creaking in unison during a poignant scene, underscore this global emotional connection. His remarks offer a compelling reflection on the shared human condition, suggesting that despite diverse backgrounds, fundamental feelings bind people together.
