Fliegende Kakerlaken in Rom: Italien leidet unter Insektenplage
Die italienische Hauptstadt wird zurzeit von riesigen Insekten bedroht, die die Bewohner in Schrecken versetzen.
Rome is currently grappling with a significant invasion of flying American cockroaches, a phenomenon exacerbated by the intense heat gripping the capital. Numerous reports of these large insects flying between sidewalks and walls have emerged from various neighborhoods, stretching from Montemario to Ostia. Zoologist Andrea Lunerti shed light on the situation, stating that the American Periplaneta, commonly used as feed for reptiles, often escape from breeding facilities where they are imported. Lunerti, who recently intervened in an apartment near the Vatican, confirmed finding many cockroaches in garages. According to the expert, the mild winter and early summer conditions have favored the survival and rapid proliferation of these insects. Lunerti emphasized that the problem is not solely dependent on waste management, as these insects are also attracted to food residues and are capable of flying up to balconies. He concluded by asserting that these insects pose a serious infestation.
