NOAA Predicts Above-Average 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to be above average, according to NOAA's forecast released this week. FOX Weather meteorologists Jane Minar and Michael Estime analyzed the prediction, highlighting three key factors: above-average water temperatures, a high number of tropical waves, and below-average wind shear. Minar stated, "It's just a call to action, right? Thinking about those preparedness plans as we've got the whole season ahead of us." Estime added, "Water temps warmer than normal, now & likely to slightly increase." The forecast predicts 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes, and 3-5 major hurricanes. While warmer waters are a significant factor, Estime pointed out the importance of other factors such as the active storm track and the abundance of tropical waves. The information is timely and crucial for coastal communities to prepare for the upcoming season.
