Flash Floods Hit South Florida Amidst Torrential Rains
South Florida is currently experiencing torrential rainfall and flash flooding, primarily affecting Miami and Fort Lauderdale. A slow-moving weather front, saturated with tropical moisture, is the cause of the severe downpours. The resulting flooding is creating hazardous conditions for drivers and causing disruptions to air travel. Brandy Campbell, a FOX Weather correspondent, reported live from Fort Lauderdale, describing the scene: "The rain was coming down very heavy. We even had some gusty winds." She showed viewers flooded streets and warned of the potential for further flooding. Local authorities, including the Miami mayor, police, and fire departments, are advising residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. While the situation is challenging, the lower temperatures brought by the rain offer some relief from the recent heatwave. The flood watch remains in effect until Wednesday morning.
