Tropical Storm Watch: Mexico on Alert as Barbara Threatens
Tropical Storm Barbara Watch: Mexico Monitors Potential Hurricane Threat Mexico is closely monitoring a developing weather system in the Eastern Pacific Ocean that has the potential to become Tropical Storm Barbara. According to FOX Weather meteorologist Haley Meier, the chances of a tropical depression forming are currently 20% over the next two days, but that probability jumps to 80% within the next seven days. "The area is right in and around Mexico and Central America," Meier explained in the report. "The odds continue to increase for an area to watch off Mexico." The potential storm is located in an area of warm water, a key condition for tropical development. However, Meier noted that the system is currently "very loose, disorganized." The system's eventual trajectory is expected to move it into cooler waters, which could weaken it significantly. While the immediate impact on Mexico is expected to be limited, potentially only bringing some tropical showers or thunderstorms, the situation remains under close observation. The National Hurricane Center will provide further updates and forecasts as the system develops. This is the second storm of the 2025 East Pacific hurricane season. The first, Alvin, has already formed and dissipated.
