Gaza Aid Halted: Refugees Left Desperate Amidst Violence
Gaza Aid Distribution Halted Amidst Riots: Refugees Report Dangerous Conditions and Lack of Assistance Gaza Strip, Palestine – The distribution of US humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip was abruptly halted on Friday due to escalating violence and safety concerns. The US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation cited riots and security risks as the reason for the suspension, promising to reschedule deliveries as soon as order is restored. A CGTN reporter on the scene described the situation near the Nedzerim axis as highly dangerous. "We are now in the closest point of the Nedzerim axis where the people are waiting for the aid distribution. As you can see, nobody is in this area because it's very dangerous," she reported. Palestinian refugees interviewed expressed their frustration and desperation. Naim Hudhud, a Palestinian refugee, stated, "We came here today and found nothing. Yesterday, they distributed aid to some people, but today we've been here since 4 a.m. until 10 a.m., and no one received anything." Another refugee, Muti'al-Bas, added, "The situation is extremely dire. The price of flour is so high that people can't afford it. That's why we came from northern Gaza despite the danger, and as you can see, we're all going back empty-handed without any aid." Over 20 people were reportedly injured when a quadcopter opened fire earlier in the morning, further highlighting the volatile conditions. The incident underscores the urgent need for a swift resolution to the security issues to allow the resumption of crucial aid deliveries to those in need.
