Wheelie Gone Wrong: Motorcyclist Arrested After Hitting Radio Presenter in Brazil
A radio presenter in Piripiri, Piauí, Brazil, was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when a motorcyclist lost control of his bike while performing a wheelie and struck her. The incident occurred on Rua Dr. Antenor de Araújo Freitas in the city center. Security camera footage shows the motorcyclist, who was subsequently arrested, crossing the road and colliding with the presenter's motorcycle. "I was on my way to college and didn't have a helmet on," said Nívea Carvalho, the injured woman, who is also a veterinary student. "He asked if I was okay, then claimed his clutch was malfunctioning, and left." The motorcyclist was apprehended later that day for causing the accident and leaving the scene without assisting Ms. Carvalho. She sustained injuries including cuts from broken glass. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of wearing protective gear while riding a motorcycle.
