SpaceX Starship Fails Again: Third Consecutive Test Flight Ends in Problems
SpaceX's Starship suffers setbacks in latest test flight. The ambitious Starship, designed to carry humans to the moon, experienced a series of failures during its ninth test flight on May 28, 2025. The launch from Boca Chica, Texas, appeared successful initially, but SpaceX lost contact with the booster during its descent. Furthermore, the capsule failed to open its doors, preventing the deployment of its payload. The spacecraft then spun uncontrollably, rendering it untrackable after approximately 40 minutes. "This is the third consecutive test flight with significant problems," said a SpaceX spokesperson, adding that the company is analyzing data to prepare for the next test. Despite the setbacks, the Starship remains a critical component of NASA's Artemis program, aiming to return humans to the lunar surface for the first time since 1972. The program's launch is currently scheduled for September 2026.
