Brazilian Cougar Fitted with Tracking Collar, Released Back into Wild
Minas Gerais, Brazil: A young cougar was captured in the Parque Estadual da Serra do Rola-Moça on Wednesday. The Instituto Estadual de Florestas (IEF) fitted the animal with a tracking collar to monitor its movements and protect the species. According to the IEF, the cougar is young and healthy and was already being monitored by the technical team. After the collar was placed, the cougar was released back into its habitat. 'The presence of these animals in environmental conservation units is a good indication of the health and ecological balance of the environment,' said an IEF spokesperson. The successful operation is a testament to conservation efforts in the region.
