First Snow of 2025 in Rio Grande do Sul: Dogs Delight in Unexpected Winter Wonderland
Rio Grande do Sul Experiences First Snowfall of 2025 The southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul experienced its first snowfall of 2025 in the early hours of Thursday, May 29th. The Serra region was particularly affected, with reports of both snow and freezing rain. According to Climatempo Meteorology, a cold front moving across the state, combined with a cyclone off the northern coast, created the perfect conditions for snowfall. In Cambará do Sul, the temperature plummeted to 2.4ºC, as recorded by the Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (Inmet). "It was quite a surprise," said Tiago Freitas, a resident of Bom Jesus who captured video of his Saint Bernard playing in the snow. "We don't see snow very often here, and the dogs loved it!" The video shows the dog happily running and jumping in the snow, a heartwarming contrast to the chilly weather. The snowfall brought a unique and joyful experience to the region, offering a memorable moment for both residents and their furry friends. The unexpected weather event also highlighted the unpredictable nature of the climate in southern Brazil.
