
Funk Star's Arrest Shakes Rio: Poze do Rodo Declares Gang Ties
Brazilian Funk Star MC Poze do Rodo Arrested, Declares Gang Affiliation Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – MC Poze do Rodo, a popular Brazilian funk artist, was arrested on Thursday, May 29, 2025, on charges related to drug trafficking and apologia to crime. The arrest was carried out by agents of the Delegacia de Repressão a Entorpecentes (DRE) of the Polícia Civil do RJ. Following his arrest, Poze was taken to the Penitenciária Serrano Neves, also known as Bangu 3, a prison known to house members of the Comando Vermelho (CV) drug gang. According to the Secretaria de Administração Penitenciária (Seap), Poze, upon entering the prison system, filled out an intake form that included a section for 'declared ideology'. He checked the box indicating affiliation with the Comando Vermelho. A spokesperson for the Seap stated, "Toda pessoa que entra no sistema penitenciário fluminense precisa preencher uma ficha com informações básicas sobre a prisão." This translates to: "Every person entering the Fluminense penitentiary system must fill out a form with basic information about the arrest." Poze's lawyer, Fernando Henrique Cardoso Neves, stated to G1 that the charges are based on "an old narrative" and that they plan to file a habeas corpus if Poze is not released. He added, "Queremos entender o motivo dessa nova prisão. Essa é uma narrativa já antiga." This translates to: "We want to understand the reason for this new arrest. This is an old narrative." The investigation into Poze's alleged involvement with drug trafficking is ongoing. The case highlights the complex relationship between organized crime and the entertainment industry in Brazil.
