Rio de Janeiro: Comando Vermelho Leader 'Professor' Found Dead; Police Suspect Suicide Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Phillip da Silva Gregório, known as "Professor," a high-ranking member of the Comando Vermelho (Red Command) drug gang, was found dead on Sunday night in the Complexo do Alemão favela. Police are investigating, with the leading theory currently being suicide. Gregório, 37, had been a fugitive since escaping prison in 2018. He was responsible for supplying weapons to the gang's expansion into the West Zone of Rio. To avoid identification, Gregório underwent extensive cosmetic procedures, including dental work and hair implants, in makeshift clinics within the favela. "The principal hypothesis is that the trafficker committed suicide, since he had only one gunshot wound, to the temple," said a spokesperson for the Polícia Civil. Police were alerted to his condition after he was taken to a local health clinic, where he succumbed to his injuries. The case is under investigation by the Delegacia de Homicídios (DH). The video also highlights Gregório's extensive international contacts and his involvement in money laundering. His death represents a significant blow to the Comando Vermelho's operations in Rio de Janeiro. The investigation continues to uncover further details surrounding his death and the gang's activities.
