Lula Addresses Key Concerns at PSB Convention: Senate, Congress, and Judiciary

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, during the Partido Socialista Brasileiro (PSB) national convention on June 1st, 2025, used the opportunity to address three key concerns: his political base, the legislative branch, and the judiciary. His message to his base acknowledged concerns over the rise of the far-right within the Senate. Regarding the legislative branch, Lula admitted an error in the government's communication strategy concerning a recent IOF tax increase. Finally, he publicly defended Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes against threats from US far-right and Bolsonarista politicians, stating, "Brazilian justice does not need external tutelage." These actions highlight Lula's efforts to navigate political challenges and maintain stability within the government.
