Brazil's Central Bank Launches New PIX Automatic Payment System
Brazil Launches PIX Automatic Payments: A Simpler Way to Pay Bills Brazil's Central Bank launched a new, simplified recurring payment system on June 4th, 2025, called PIX Automático. This system aims to make paying recurring bills and subscriptions much easier for consumers and businesses. Unlike traditional automatic debit systems, which require agreements between the biller and the customer's bank, PIX Automático only needs the payer to authorize the payments through their banking app. This streamlines the process, making it more accessible to a wider range of businesses and consumers. "This is a significant improvement for both consumers and businesses," said Roberto Campos Neto, President of the Central Bank, in a recent interview. "It simplifies the process of making recurring payments, and it also reduces the risk of fraud." The system allows businesses to send payment requests to customers, who then authorize the payments via their bank's app. Once authorized, payments are automatically debited on the agreed-upon dates, even on weekends and holidays. The system also includes a maximum payment limit, which can be set by the payer for added security. PIX Automático is expected to significantly impact Brazil's financial landscape, offering a more convenient and secure method for handling recurring payments. Its user-friendly design and wide applicability promise to benefit a large segment of the population.
