67 Hours in a Tree: Dramatic Rescue Attempt in Salvador
Salvador, Bahia – In a dramatic rescue operation unfolding at the Salvador Air Base, a young man named Sergio Rodrigo Guimarães has remained perched high in a tree for over 67 hours. Firefighters have been on the scene since Monday, June 2nd, after the 29-year-old man, originally from Maranhão, was reported missing since March. His family arrived from Maranhão on Tuesday. "We’ve been here since Tuesday, trying to talk him down," said his mother, visibly distressed. The situation is further complicated by a reported workplace dispute and threats that led Guimarães to seek refuge in the tree. Authorities have placed mattresses below the tree as a precaution. A medical team from SAMU (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência) remains on standby. The rescue operation continues, highlighting the dedication of emergency services and the emotional toll on the involved families. The incident underscores the importance of addressing workplace conflicts and ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals.
