
São Paulo Businessman Found Dead at Interlagos Racetrack: Police Suspect Foul Play
A 35-year-old businessman, Adalberto Amarilio dos Santos Junior, was found dead at the Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo, Brazil. His friend, Rafael, told police that Adalberto had consumed marijuana and eight beers at an event they attended together on Friday. Rafael stated that Adalberto became "altered and quite agitated" after consuming the drugs and alcohol. Adalberto's body was discovered on Tuesday in a hole at a construction site within the racetrack. "He was put there [in the hole] unconscious," said Ivalda Aleixo, director of the Homicide Department of the São Paulo Civil Police. Ricardo Lopes Ortega, director of the Institute of Criminalistics of the São Paulo Scientific Police, stated that Adalberto may have suffered from thoracic compression and asphyxia. The police are investigating the possibility of a crime. The case highlights the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of thorough police investigations into suspicious deaths.
