Faith, Fun, and Folklore: Brasília's Evangelical June Festival Group Makes Waves
Brasília's Busca Fé: Brazil's First Evangelical June Festival Group Celebrates 20 Years Deep in the heart of Brasília, Brazil, a unique cultural phenomenon thrives: Busca Fé, the nation's first evangelical June festival group. For two decades, this dedicated group has combined the vibrant traditions of Brazilian June festivals with their deep-rooted faith. With up to four rehearsals a week, they prepare for local competitions and a whirlwind of performances. Their commitment is evident in their energetic routines, which weave biblical stories into the colorful choreography. "Existe uma tradição de ter o padre dentro da quadrilha. No nosso caso, não tem padre, tem pastor, que também é o marcador," explains Bruno Anderson, the group's pastor and founder. (There's a tradition of having a priest in the quadrille. In our case, we don't have a priest, we have a pastor, who is also the caller.) This year's theme, the life of John the Baptist, is particularly noteworthy. "95% dos quadrilheiros não sabem quem é São João," Bruno Anderson points out. (95% of the quadrille dancers don't know who Saint John is.) This unique approach allows Busca Fé to educate while entertaining, demonstrating the power of cultural fusion and religious expression. The group's dedication is inspiring, their energy infectious. Busca Fé proves that faith and tradition can coexist beautifully, creating a truly unique and captivating spectacle that deserves wider recognition.
