Delivery Driver's Lawsuit Against Porto Velho Shopping: Harassment Allegations
Delivery Driver Sues Porto Velho Shopping After Alleged Harassment A 25-year-old delivery driver in Porto Velho, Rondônia, Brazil, is suing Porto Velho Shopping after claiming he was repeatedly followed and harassed by security guards while working. Cris Ferreira, who has worked in deliveries for six years, says he needs to enter the shopping center to collect orders because businesses don't bring them outside. However, in recent weeks, he's been followed by security, causing him significant distress. "They said it was forbidden for delivery drivers to enter, even though my friends enter and collect products without being harassed. I felt like a thief," Ferreira recounted. Ferreira reported the incidents to the Civil Police and filed a lawsuit against the shopping center, seeking compensation for moral damages. He claims he always had permission from the stores he visited and that other colleagues work there without issue. He also alleges he was falsely accused of selling food inside the mall. "One of them tried to grab my arm, so I shared a video on social media, filed a police report, and initiated legal proceedings," he explained. The Porto Velho Shopping has not yet commented publicly on the allegations. The case highlights concerns about the treatment of delivery workers and raises questions about security protocols in shopping malls. The outcome of the lawsuit will be closely watched.
