The incident occurred around 2:30 PM local time, according to reports from 112 Galicia, the regional emergency service. Several witnesses called emergency services after seeing a large plume of black smoke rising from the factory building on Rua Doutor Zunzunegui. Fire crews from Porriño, Ponteareas, and Morrazo swiftly arrived on the scene and brought the fire under control. "The fire was contained relatively quickly," said a spokesperson for the 112 Galicia emergency service, "but the presence of varnishes and other chemicals made the extinguishing process complex." While the fire was largely contained to a paint booth within the factory, the cause is still under investigation. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Police and Civil Guard officers were also present to manage the scene and assist with the investigation.
