Ourense Firefighters Begin Wildfire Training OURENSE, GALICIA—With summer approaching, firefighters in Ourense, Galicia, are undergoing intensive training to prepare for the wildfire season. Twenty drivers of motor pumps from Ourense's forest districts are participating in a course at Antela Airfield, focusing on new techniques and equipment. Similar courses are running simultaneously across all four Galician provinces. "The objective is to professionalize these drivers and give them the maximum possible tools so that there are no incidents during the anti-fire campaign," explained Jesús Pazos, an instructor for the course. The training includes hands-on experience with new four-stroke engine pick-up trucks and retardant foam. Drivers are also learning how to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
