Appeal Filed in Samuel Luiz Case Following Controversial Acquittal
The family of Samuel Luiz, along with the lawyers of three others convicted in the case, will appeal the High Court of Justice of Galicia's recent ruling. The ruling acquitted Alejandro Míguez, a key figure in the trial stemming from a violent attack. David Freire, lawyer for Alejandro Freire, stated, "There are actions that are clearly differentiated and should have been susceptible to a different qualification." José Ramón Sierra, lawyer for Kaio Amaral, echoed similar sentiments. Despite some defenses praising the ruling as 'brave,' the victim's family and others involved believe justice was not served. The prosecution is currently reviewing the decision to determine if they will also appeal. This case highlights ongoing debates about justice and accountability in high-profile trials.
