Burela Mourns After Fatal Festival Accident A tragic accident marred the festivities in Burela, Galicia, on Friday. A multiple-car collision resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to several others. The incident occurred during the town's patron saint festival in the field where the festivities were taking place. The deceased woman, a user of the Eu Son Foundation which supports people with intellectual disabilities, was critically injured and had a leg amputated. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries at Burela Hospital. "It's a terrible tragedy that has shaken our community," said a local resident. Five other individuals remain hospitalized in stable condition, while two have been discharged. The driver, an 83-year-old man, was also released from the hospital. Following the tragedy, town officials held a meeting with organizers and municipal representatives. They decided to continue the festival, but with modifications. "We have decided to continue the planned events, incorporating measures of institutional respect," stated a council member. These measures include flying flags at half-mast and holding a minute of silence before each event this Saturday. The planned fireworks display has also been cancelled. The accident highlights the importance of road safety, even during festive occasions. The community is now focused on supporting the victims and their families while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy during this difficult time.
