The deceased woman, a user of the Eu Son Foundation which supports people with intellectual disabilities, was critically injured and had a leg amputated. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries at Burela Hospital. "It's a terrible tragedy that has shaken our community," said a local resident. Five other individuals remain hospitalized in stable condition, while two have been discharged. The driver, an 83-year-old man, was also released from the hospital. Following the tragedy, town officials held a meeting with organizers and municipal representatives. They decided to continue the festival, but with modifications. "We have decided to continue the planned events, incorporating measures of institutional respect," stated a council member. These measures include flying flags at half-mast and holding a minute of silence before each event this Saturday. The planned fireworks display has also been cancelled.
