Spain and Jordan Strengthen Ties Amidst Middle East Crisis
King Abdullah II of Jordan's visit to Spain has resulted in the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership. The visit, which included meetings with King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, focused on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly the dire situation in Gaza. Both King Felipe and Prime Minister Sánchez have issued urgent calls for a ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a renewed commitment to a two-state solution. This Strategic Partnership will strengthen ties between Spain and Jordan across political, economic, social, cultural, and defense sectors, building on discussions initiated in 2023. The visit underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing the complex challenges facing the region.
