Galician Football Club Targeted in 2,500 Euro Theft
Cambados Football Club Hit by 2,500 Euro Theft: Defibrillator Among Items Stolen A football club in Cambados, Galicia, has fallen victim to a recent robbery, with thieves making off with approximately 2,500 euros worth of equipment and merchandise. The incident occurred at the Club Xuventude Cambados' municipal football field. The thieves forced entry, damaging doors in the process, and stole a range of items, including a freezer from the club's canteen, various sports equipment, and unexpectedly, a defibrillator. "It caught my attention because I doubt it has any value on the second-hand market," said Eladio Oubiña, president of Club Xuventude Cambados, referring to the stolen defibrillator. "They have serial numbers, some even have geolocation." Oubiña also noted that the thieves seemed to know the club's schedule, suggesting they might have targeted the club knowing the canteen would be stocked for an upcoming match. The Guardia Civil is currently investigating the robbery and hopes that security camera footage from a nearby winery will help identify the culprits. The incident highlights the vulnerability of smaller, less secure sports facilities to theft. The club remains hopeful that the stolen items will be recovered and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
