Galician App Dooroti Solves Vigo's Parking Crisis
Vigo Parking Solution: Dooroti App and Unused Land Plan to Add Thousands of Spaces Vigo, Spain – A Galician startup, Dooroti, is tackling Vigo's parking woes with a two-pronged approach: a user-friendly app and a plan to transform unused land into temporary parking lots. The app allows drivers to locate and reserve parking spaces in real-time, utilizing spaces that would otherwise remain empty. "In the low season, many spaces are available," explains Fernando de Cabo, director of the Rías Bajas Hotel in Pontevedra, one of the businesses using the app. "This helps us fill them and provides a solution to the parking problem in the city center." Dooroti is also searching for suitable urban land to create temporary parking areas. They estimate that Vigo alone has enough unused land to accommodate almost 6,000 vehicles. This initiative could significantly alleviate parking congestion in Vigo and serve as a model for other cities facing similar challenges. The company's founder, Pablo Guillán, describes the app as similar to accommodation booking sites, making the process simple and efficient for drivers.
