Minsk's New Tech Fights Illegal Parking
Minsk Rolls Out Automated Parking Violation System Minsk, Belarus – The city's traffic police have implemented a new automated system to crack down on illegal parking. The system, which started operating on June 9th, 2025, uses cameras mounted on police vehicles to identify and record parking violations. Denis Livanovich, Deputy Chief of the Minsk City State Traffic Inspectorate, explained the system's operation: "The system works automatically, identifying vehicles parked illegally in pre-defined zones. A notification is then sent to the vehicle owner." The video footage shows the system in action, highlighting how the cameras capture images of illegally parked cars and the software processes this information to generate notifications. Livanovich added that a first offense will only result in a warning, but repeated violations within a year will lead to a fine of 42 Belarusian rubles. This new system aims to improve traffic flow and road safety in the city center and major thoroughfares. The initiative represents a step towards modernizing traffic enforcement in Minsk.
