Simion's Bold Plan: Tax Breaks to Boost Romanian Innovation
Simion Criticizes Romanian Research, Calls for Tax Incentives, Citing Hungary as a Model Romania's research and development sector is lagging behind, according to AUR leader George Simion. In a recent debate at the Chamber of Commerce, Simion pointed to Hungary as a successful model, highlighting the significant contribution of hunting to Hungary's GDP as an example of a strategic approach to national economic development. He argued that Romania lacks a clear strategy in this area. "Unfortunately, Romanian research is always the Cinderella," Simion stated. "At the patent level, there has been no strategy until now." Simion proposed tax incentives for both Romanian and foreign inventors to stimulate innovation and attract foreign investment. He believes this strategy is key to attracting investment from outside the European Union. "We have a large market outside the European Union that can be attracted to Romania," he added. The absence of his opponent, Nicușor Dan, from the debate was noted. The debate provides a platform for discussion about the future of Romanian research and development.
