Kazakhstan's Children's Day Tarnished by Inflated Prices: Deputy Demands Action
On June 1st, Kazakhstan celebrated International Children's Day. However, the holiday was marred by reports of inflated prices for children's goods and services. Anas Bakkozhaev, a member of the Majilis (the lower house of parliament), voiced strong criticism, stating, "Yesterday was supposed to be Children's Day, but it turned out to be a day of mockery of parents." Bakkozhaev personally visited a park where numerous vendors were charging exorbitant prices and failing to provide receipts. He gave the example of soap bubbles sold for 3000 tenge, double the wholesale price. This incident highlights concerns about consumer protection and tax compliance in Kazakhstan. The Majilis is expected to address the issue of price regulation and ensure fair trade practices, particularly during holidays.
