YouTube Playlists Are Advertising "No AI" as Entire Site Gets Choked by AI Slop
In a sign of the times, YouTube creators are labelling their music playlists with "No AI" to signal that their creations are slop free.
A mysterious YouTube channel called "what is?" has gained over 500,000 views and 20,000 subscribers in just two weeks. The channel features lofi music mixes, but the creator's identity and the use of AI music generation are unclear. Derrick Gee, a YouTube content creator, investigated the channel and shared his findings in a recent video. "I started looking into this channel and it looks totally innocent," Gee said. "But when I looked a little deeper, I found myself trying to solve a mystery." Gee's video highlights comments from viewers questioning whether the music is AI-generated. One comment reads, "It sounds like music made with Suno," referring to an AI music creation program. Gee tested this theory by creating his own lofi music using Suno, demonstrating the potential for AI-generated content to thrive on platforms like YouTube. This raises questions about the future of music and the responsibility of platforms to regulate AI-generated content.
